One of the major disadvantages of the Windows Mobile operating system is the fact that the user interface controls (such as menus, buttons, lists, etc.) are stylus-oriented but not optimized for finger-based interaction. Türkiye'deki reklam ortaklığı

Sıraladığımız yöntemlerin pek çoğu internetteki yeni eğilimlere yönelik web sitelerini içeriyor. Google gibi büyük firmaların Türkiye'ye ödemesi var. Ama sesli reklamlar gibi uygulamalar buraya ne zaman uygulanabilir orası şimdilik meçhul.

Benzeri ortaklık modellerini uygulayan Türk firmalar da mevcut. Genellikle sistem tıklama üzerine kurulu modellerle işliyor. Tabii ki Linkz gibi bazı alternatif yollar da söz konusu. Yapmanız gereken şey dilediğiniz sisteme üye olup ilgili açıklamalar dahilinde sayfanıza gereken kodları eklemek.

Google, web kullanıcıları tarafından, en beğenilen servisler arasında yer alan ve kullanıcılarının, 51 farklı dilde çeviri yapabilmelerine olanak tanıyan Google Translate'in, yeni arayüzünü ve şipşak (geçek zamanlı/anlık - Real-Time/instantly) çeviri başta olmak üzere, eklediği yeni özelliklerini duyurdu ve kullanıma sundu +tr.

Çok daha kullanışlı bir arayüz ile hizmet vermeye devam edecek olan Google Translate'te artık; çevirilmesini istediğiniz metnin henüz harflerini yazma başlamışken, Google Translate metninizi istediğiniz dile çevirmeye/tercüme etmeye başlayarak, Tercüme Et butonuna tıklamaya gerek duymadan, şipşak (geçek zamanlı/anlık - Real-Time/instantly) çevirilmekte (Translate instantly).Ayrıca metninizi ingilizceye çeviriyorsanız, ingilizce metini sesli olarak dinleyebiliyorsunuz (text-to-speech).

Google Translate'in diğer bir yeni özelliği ise: Japonca ve Çince gibi Latin alfabesi kullanmayan dillere yapılan çeviri sonuçlarını, Show romanizaiton (Latince alfabeyle göster) butonu ile latin alfabesindeki karşılıklarını gösterebilmesi.Yine bu dillerden yapılacak çeviriler esnasında, çeviri kutusuna latin alfabesi ile yazılan metinlerden hemen sonra, klavyedeki boşluk tuşuna (space bar) basıldığında, latin harflerin yerine bu dillerin kendi alfabelerindeki harfler gelmekte.

İlerleyen zamanlarda buzdolabı ve çamaşır makinelerinden dahi erişebileceğimiz (Turkcell'den Dijital Yaşam Eğitimi) web için, sırf web'e erişim için kullanmak üzere tasarlanmış ve Google gibi bir devin onun için işletim sistemi üreteceğini açıkladığı netbook olarak isimlendirilen cihazlar bile mevcut.

Şimdilerde, neredeyse tüm web siteleri ve farklı alanlar için tasarlanmış cihazlar bu sosyal ağlara bir şekilde entegre olmuş veya olmak üzereler.

Çoğu zaman tasarımcılardan şuna benzer bir söz duyabilirsiniz:

"İyi tasarımcılar kopyalar, Mükemmel tasarımcılar çalar."

Hımm.. Bunu söyleyen tasarımcı genelde şu üç kişilikten birisine sahiptir.

• Tasarımları sadece kopyalayan, onlardan ilham alan bir kişilik.
• Gerçekten tasarım çalan bir kişilik.
• Tasarım kopyalamamanın ve çalmanın zor olduğunu kabul eden ve çalmamaya çalışan, kendine ara sıra engel olamayan bir kişilik.

Hangi nedenden bilinmez, birçok tasarımcı tam anlamıyla benzersiz bir çalışmanın olamayacağına, herkesin mutlaka birilerinden ilham almış olacağına inanır.

Açıkcası ben buna katılmıyorum ve en azından böyle bir nosyonu kabul etmiyorum. sizin de kabul etmemenizi öneriyorum.

Kopyacı Tasarımcılar
Bu tasarımcılar, dizayn piramidinin en alt basamağını oluştururlar, aslında o kadar da kötü bir yer değildir burası, sonuçta bir yerden başlamanız gerekiyor.

Bu tip tasarımcılar daha işin başındadırlar çoğu zaman ve mükemmel bir tasarımı oluşturan öğelerden habersizdirler, bu yüzden başkalarının çalışmalarını taklit ederek, onlardan ilham alarak bir şeyler yaratmaya çalışırlar.

Genel olarak internet galerilerine üyedirler, buralardan bir iki site seçerler ve dizaynlarını yeniden yaratmaya çalışırlar, ki bu şekilde ellerindeki işe yönelik bir tasarım bulmaya çalışırlar. Bu yazı, web tasarımının en önemli meselelerini kısaca gözden geçiriyor ve umuyorum bir sonraki tasarım çalışması için bilgisayarınızın karşısına oturduğunuzda üzerinde düşünmeniz gerekenleri size hatırlatır.

1. Unutmayın, elinizdeki zaman oldukça kısıtlı.
Bir araştırma sonucunda okuduğum kadarıyla, bir kullanıcının söz konusu siteyi baştan aşağıya inceleme süresi sadece 4 saniyedir. Ve bu süre gerçekten kullanıcı ile temasa geçip site ile ilgilenmesini sağlamaya yetmez. Dolayısıyla, tasarımla sitenin ne üzerine olduğunu olabildiğince kesin şekilde ve kısa sürede vermelisiniz. eğer bu süre birkaç saniyeden uzun sürerse, kullanıcı dikkatini kaybedecek ve başka bir tarafa yönelecektir.

2. Kullanıcılar sitenizi tararlar
Bir odaya girdiğiniz anda, içerideki bütün yüzleri bir anda görmezsiniz. Öncelikle insanların ve objelerin şekillerini fark edersiniz. Odayı tararsınız. Daha sonra devam eder ve ilginizi çeken şeye odaklanırsınız. Benzer şey siteye ilk girildiğinde de yaşanır.

Army chief of staff Gen. George Casey said this weekend that he is concerned that the deadly shooting at Ft. Hood last week could "cause a backlash against some of our Muslim soldiers."

"I've asked our Army leaders to be on the lookout for that," Gen. Casey told CNN on Sunday, stating that "as great a tragedy as this was, it would be a shame if our diversity became a casualty as well."

On Monday, the family of one of the victims offered a hand of support to the Muslim community. Michael Cahill, a physician's assistant at the base, was the only civilian to be killed in the attacks, and his family spoke to CBS News to denounce the scapegoating of Muslims.

"You can't blanket a whole group of people. There's extremists in every religion, and there's extremists all over the world," said Cahill's daughter, Kerry. "And I don't think that we can blanket a whole group of people when this man obviously was ill, I think."

Cahill's other daughter, Keely Vanacker, expanded: "The death of our father, or any of these victims, shouldn't be an excuse or reason to begin to hate an entire group of people."

Make money in 2010: The economy

We’ve already seen one story today about athletes behaving badly being punished severely for their actions, with the Internet playing a starring role. Here’s another: Elizabeth Lambert, a soccer player for the University of New Mexico, has been suspended indefinitely for one of the more unsportsmanlike moves you’ll ever see.

The video, which is nearing one million views on YouTube, features Lambert first punching an opponent in the back, and then later, pulling another down by her hair. During the game, Lambert was only issued one yellow card.

The story is actually quite similar to that of Florida’s Brandon Spikes eye gouging an opponent in a recent football game. Although not a huge deal during the game itself, it was the reaction to the YouTube clip making its way around the Web afterwards that ultimately led to a harsher punishment. Put simply: bad behavior on the playing field is going to get a lot harder to get away with when the eyes of YouTube are watching.

Toobla has a list of the most popular shared folders on its site in various categories full of content that you can view. Clicking on a link will take you to a page, but clicking on a video or audio file (or other embedded content) will display the content right inside Toobla.

That warm flood of outrage through the veins is addicting—but it also runs the danger of being addictive, and of being too easy. As the news broke this week about the "Internet provisions" in the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement (ACTA), it didn't t ake long for the outrage to emerge.

For instance, the popular blog Boing Boing (we love you, Cory!) announced that, under the proposed ACTA provisions being drafted by the US, "ISPs have to proactively police copyright on user-contributed material. This means that it will be impossible to run a service like Flickr or YouTube or Blogger, since hiring enough lawyers to ensure that the mountain of material uploaded every second isn't infringing will exceed any hope of profitability."

We all know the old stereotypes—men don't ask for directions, women talk a lot, no one reads the manual. Well, some of those stereotypes seem to ring true in the latest data provided by Gadget Helpline, a tech support service based in the UK. The company's report reveals the shocking news that men and women exhibit different behaviors when it comes to dealing with technology and getting help.

Gadget Helpline analyzed 75,000 calls received be tween September and October of 2009 and discovered that it's not just geeks that aren't reading the manual. A full 64 percent of men and 24 percent of women calling into the line had not checked out the booklet that came with their computers or gadgets before picking up the phone. If the numbers are that dire (especially for the men), we can't help but wonder how many more kept quiet about their inability to RTFM.

Five years ago today, Mozilla announced the official release of Firefox 1.0. The open source Web browser has come a very long way since then and has achieved a level of popularity that few would have imagined possible. The success of Firefox and Mozilla's unwavering commitment to open Web standards has helped to usher in a new era of vibrance and diversity in the browser market. To commemorate Firefox's fifth anniversary, we are going to take you back in time for a look at some of our classic coverage of the po pular browser.

Firefox emerged as an effort to replace the Mozilla Suite's browser with a lighter alternative based on the same underlying technology. The developers originally called their creation Phoenix, an allusion to their mission of bringing about a Mozilla rebirth. The earliest Phoenix binaries were released to the public in 2002 and began to attract serious attention over the course of the following year.

Manhunt 2 wasn't exactly a masterpiece when it was released in 2007; the backstory of its Adults Only rating and subsequent toning-down to earn the Mature designation was more interesting than the game itself. Of course, it didn't take long to find out just what had been edited from the game, as a hack was released on the Web that restored the adult version of the game to its before-market glory. Up until now, though, the only way to experience the Adults Only version of the game was to perform an illegal modification. The recent release of an official AO-rated Manhunt 2 via Direct2Drive has brought the title back into the public eye.

This release (2 years after its initial release) has highlighted the plight that developers and publishers face when they try to put out a game with content too extreme for the Mature label. Though Rockstar is keeping mum about why it finally decided to let the original game out of its cage, it's hard to deny that there is a market out there for AO games; it's just a harder one to reach because of the limitations that go hand-in-hand with the rating.

Every time there's a major data breach in retail or government, there's a chorus of frustrated customers trying to find out whether their information was exposed to would-be identity thieves. The problem is that it's near impossible to find out this information unless the organization in question takes the initiative to notify customers with exposed data. This, quite frankly, happens very slowly.

In response to this annoying trend, members of Congress have introduced legislation that would require organizations to notify customers when their information is no longer secure. None have passed as of yet—interest in such bills peaks when data breaches happen and wanes with the next news cycle—but there are currently two bills making their way through the system that show some promise.
